Roof rejuvenation

Your roof may not need replacing yet.

Rejuvenation is a treatment applied to asphalt shingles that are aging but still sound. It's meant to restore some flexibility and slow wear, so you can put off a replacement.

It isn't a repair for leaks, missing shingles or storm damage. Those need fixing first.

Is rejuvenation right for your roof?

It only suits some roofs. Yours needs all of these.
  • Asphalt shingles. It isn't for metal, tile, slate or flat roofs.
  • Roughly 5 to 15 years old.
  • No active leaks.
  • No missing or badly damaged shingles.
  • Granule loss within limits. Shingles that have lost too many granules need replacing, not treating.

We confirm it at the free inspection, with photos of what we see. If your roof doesn't qualify, we'll show you why and tell you what it needs instead.

What it does, and what it doesn't.

What it does

  • It's applied to the shingles to help restore some of their flexibility.
  • It's meant to slow the wear that comes with age and sun.
  • It can delay the point at which you need a new roof.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't fix leaks, missing shingles or storm damage. Those need a repair.
  • It doesn't replace lost granules or re-seal shingles that have come loose.
  • It doesn't turn an old, failing roof into a sound one.

The warranty.

Any warranty comes from the product's manufacturer, in writing. We'll show you the product's written warranty before you decide.

Honest notes.

Things you should know before you decide.
  • It doesn't reset your roof's age for insurance purposes.
  • Rejuvenation delays a replacement; it doesn't replace one.
  • Much of the testing on these products is funded by manufacturers. Ask us for the test data and we'll give it to you.

Rejuvenation or replacement? We'll tell you which makes sense, even if it's the cheaper one.

This company was founded because too many people were pushed into roofs they didn't need. If a treatment will do, we'll say so. If your roof is past treating, we'll show you the photos and your replacement price.

Common questions.

Can't find your answer? Call us at (713) 909-0443.

Is rejuvenation the same as a coating?

No. A coating puts a new layer on top of a roof, and it's mostly used on flat commercial roofs. Rejuvenation is a treatment for asphalt shingles that soaks into them. We do both, on the roofs each one suits.

How long does it last?

We don't quote a number of years unless it's in the product's written warranty, and we'll show you that warranty before you decide. How long any treatment helps depends on your roof's condition and our Texas sun.

Will it lower my insurance premium?

Don't count on it. Rejuvenation doesn't reset your roof's age for insurance purposes, and we won't tell you it earns a discount. Ask your insurance agent if you want to know for sure.

Can I rejuvenate a roof that was damaged in a storm?

No. Storm damage needs a repair or a replacement first. If you've had a storm, start with a free inspection and we'll document what we find with dated photos.

Does it affect my shingle manufacturer's warranty?

It can. Some shingle manufacturers say a field-applied treatment affects their warranty. We check your shingles and tell you what we know before you decide.
